Treated At Good Sa maritan Hospital As Result Of Weather Northern Part Of State Is Sheathed In Ice Mercury Here Only Down To 17 Above Zero Lebanon citizens slipped and skidded to work today along with the rest of Pennsylvania as a sudden break in the weather following a nearrecord cold wave accounted for more than a score of deaths and dozens of injuries through out the state Rain falling as the temperature leaped from to as high as 31 degrees above coated sidewalks and streets with a glazed surface resulting in five persons treated at the Good Samaritan Hospital and causing one motor ac in the county although it was not a serious one From the high mark of 31 yesterday the mercury fell during the night to an increase of 21 degrees over yesterdays low mark Most serious mishap In the state occured near Aliquippa a thaw caused a landslide and a bus was buried be neath tons of rocks Twentytwo persons in the bus were killed Sixth Street slipped and fell while emerging from a front door at Tour local were treated the Good Samaritan Hospital laat evening tor injuries sustained In falls on icy sidewalks and a fifth was treated for Injuries di ascribed to the weather Three of the five patients were admitted to the hospital for fur ther observation and treatment Michael Hartman of 330 federal Street employed as a bandy at a local political club fell on the Icy pavement on Chest nut Palmyras better known residents passed away this morning at his home 38 North Grant Street Schaeffer who was 62 years ot age was on duty at the post with Elmer Gingrich also of Palmyra on the 6 to 9 p yellow Ohio River Motor Coach bus crowded with war workers Only three passengers escaped two of them with critical injuries The tragedy oc curred a mile here at p as the bus threaded its way around K
