graduates first high school student BY KATIE KRITIKOS Lansing High School has a leadership but its not exactly what Heather an LHS was Bennett was searching for ways to get in the community and learn how to become a better she wanted something that would look good on her college What she found was Leadership Leavenworth a class sponsored by the Area Chamber of class was formed in the 1980s to help get people more interested in volunteer ing and run ning for elected Bennett had never heard of the class before her mother found information about it she When she went to turn in her applica she said she got a little lost trying to find the chamber Heather Bennett But neither her ty with the program nor her unique circumstances the group had never had a high school student take the class counted against and Bennett was one of 15 people accepted to participate in the leadership The class met one Friday each month starting in September and graduated April in a cere mony at the Riverfront
