Legal Counselor Most of the men named as de fendants in the current brought by Jan K Thiesen an father James Thiesen of Red wood Falls Minn and repre of the town of Lak Park and of the two local firms met last Friday evening at the town hall Attorney Peter waS called to the meeting to ex plain the aspects of the suit Ru that Thiesen may drop ttu suit were apparently foundation and the group direct ed Mr to proceed with tin necessary legal steps Three or four of the group hac already retained lawyers to figh the case The others unanimously voiced their approval of Mr to represent them in the action and he will work with the other lawyers in making up th case for the defendants We will get right at the job so there will be no chance of a default being entered against anj of you was the of the local Chamber of Commerce asked Mr to prepare the necessary papers to incorporate the Cham ber 59 Bu Bullheads Seined at Outlet Fiftynine bushels of bullheads were seined this Tuesday morning from below the dam at the outlet of Silver lake Cons Officer Basler reports There were also a fair number of walleyes and perch netted along with the bull heads The bullheads were last years hatch and averaged around three to four indite in fiftieth The fish averaged around 900 to a bushel measure thus about 53100 fish were netted All the fish were taken to Lost Island lake near Ruthven where fishing is not very lucrative this year Basler said he believes most of the fish that were and arc below the outlet dam are from our lake they being small enough to be washed through the wire netting when it was caught in a bread mixer at his bakery He is still in the hospital at Dawson Mr and Mrs Jeff Weatherwax returned Sunday afternoon from Sioux City where they had been for two weeks while he was tak ing xray treatments at the Methodist hospital Chas Sandkamp Interred Satur Charles Marvin Sandkamp assed away Tuesday July 10 in Des Moines Iowa He had reach ed the age of 69 years 7 months and 5 days Shorty as he was known to all had been in poor health for he past five years On July 4th suffered a stroke from which ic never rallied Shorty was born and reared in Sioux Valley Minn where he until 26 years of age He hen moved to a farm south of Lake Park where he lived for many years and later moved to us own farm northeast of Lake ark where he resided a number of years It was while living here hat Shorty married and became he father of a son and step daughter to whom he was very devoted When he mold hii farm he moved to and his It wife Ei Minn oper a restaurant for a few years le also operated a lunch room at led Oak Iowa for several years When his health no longer per mitted he retired to Des Moines where he spent the last ten years his life His parents Mr and Mrs Peter Monday where Mrs Habben will consult doctors about her health HAS OPERATION Eldon Jansen was taken Sun day to the Spirit Lake hospital where on Monday he underwent surgery for gallstones He is re satisfactorily TOO MANY ASPIRINS PUTS LAD IN HOSPITAL Michael the 18 months old son of Mr and Mrs Gary Briley swallowed nearly a bottle of baby aspirins shortly after the noon hour last Saturday Mrs Briley had put the lad to bed for a nap but instead of napping he wan dered about the room and spying the bottle of aspirins he ate about forty of the tablets before his mother learned what he had done The lad was taken the Spirit Lake hospital where his stomach was pumped and he remained overnight Mr Briley is employed at the McFarland Barber Shop NEW OFFICERS OF LOCAL LEGION POST Election of Tuesday of this week following a week of incessant showers and rains Only a couple of fields of the earlier varieties were reported in the swathing process The fields are wet and one chap said he was going to put dual wheels on his combine in order to continue with the job Development of the crop and harvesting progress over the state is ahead of several recent years reports the Iowa Dept of Agriculture Nearly all of the corn fields have been cultivated for the last time The crop is in excellent condition last Wednesdays state report saying it averaged four feet tall compared to three
