the Kerrville Independent School District for the first time this year and Tax Mrs Juanita Maples explained the move was necessary Under provisions of the school financing autos are taxable as well as other personal pro perty and there is no provision for exemption If these vehicles were not added to the tax rolls funds for the district would be eliminated at the state level she added Mrs Maples explained that a depreciation scale has been worked out and only 197276 cars are taxed They range from for a 1972 Mazda to for a 1976 Cadillac De La Rosa Indicted Joe E De La Rosa 20 Kerrville has historian national banner bearer and two years as national council mem ber of the national organization Runaway High Speed Chase L Bug Lawmen A high speed chase and a runaway prisoner provided the excitement for Kerr Country lawmen during the week Last Wednesday night a 21 year old Kerrville man riding a motorcycle started the chase on the Harper Road He was fol lowed into Gillespie County where he was captured at a roadblock after achieving speeds of over IIS miles per hour He was charged there with exhibition of acceleration and fleeing officers Donald R Van Der Maelen 19 of Comfort was booked by City police early Sunday morn ing and ran away from officers when he was taken to the Court House for booking As he was being processed in the Sheriffs office he took to his heels and was later recaptured in a nearby lumber yard Justice of the Peace James J set a bond on charges of escape and on a charge of theft Eddie D Dean 30 of En dover was arrested by the Kerrville Police Department in connection with the theft of tools from the Peterson Hospital annex Top Female Gymnastics Coming Oct 16 The largest exhibition of top flight female gymnastics ever to appear in the Texas United Way Riverhill Country Club of Kerrville will host area golfers Wednesday when the second annual United Way Golf tour gets underway In support of the local United Way Drive Mana ger Jim Shirley
