Cased Brick and Modern in Bv Detail Appropriate ceremonies marked dedication of the new Methodist Episcopal church at Star ford on Sun day when a pretty little edifice was consecrated to the worship of God by a Congregation scarcely more thaa a year old The exercises were in charge of Rev Frederick Wineman tne pastor who was assisted by sev eral other ministers one of whom Rev T F Chilcote of Cokeville organized the congregation in October 1909 The new church is a cased brick Structure of gothic style It has a Dlate roof five windows and an artis tid steel ceiling It is finished in oak and has a of 250 per 1 The interior decorations and work are excellent The edifice cost more than ot which has been paid and the bal was provided for at the dedica tion When the congregation was organ by Rev Chilcote a little more than a year ago there were 11 mem bers These men and women with Heir pastor began at once to plan for Jie erection of a church A site was secured and by vigorous work money enough to start the structure was Sundays ceremonies were attend ed by large audiences A trained choir rendered special music Rev John J Hill D delivered the morning sermon the afternoon dis course being Rev Chil cote Rev T N Boyle D deliv ered the evening sermon after which the building as presented to the con by the board of trustees composed of the following persons H H Hetrick president S A DECEMBER COURT OPENS Grand Has a Brief List of Crimes to Hear The December term of court opened Monday at p m with Judge Tel ford on the Nothing of unusual interest was noted in the returns of the constables E M Ansley of Chambersville was made foreman of the grand jury was instructed as to its duties at length by Judge Telford who di in his instructions to com pare the amount of business before this Court as the smallest in years Jfo returns of the grand jury have yet been made on indictments and few bills are expected x The case of Commonwealth vs P G Griffith charged with assault and battery by Bertha Griffith also the case of Commonwealth vs Rev Wm L Barrett charged with malicious libel by John K Ten er were nolle pressed on payment of costs by the defendants The first week HALF A CENTURY Prominent Couple Bride and Groom of Fifty Years Saturday marked the 50th anniver sary of the marriage of Mr and Mrs Noah Seanor prominent residents of and surrounded by their children grandchildren and great grandchildren the golden wedding was celebrated with a family dinner Many friends called at the Seanor home during the day to extend con gratulations Both Seanor and his bride of fifty years are natives of Westmore land county Mrs Seanor whose maiden name was Kinnan was born in the vicinity of Livermore where were married but they have resided for 46 years in this county residing on the Seanor farm in South Mahoning township For years Mr Seanor was extensive ly engaged in farming and by adopt ing modern methods his acres yield ed him large returns and his farm was regarded as one of the garden spots in the While ac engaged in farming he found time to engage in the livestock busi ness and for yeara he was one of the most extensive shippers to the east ern markets He represented this county in the State Legislature for two terms and has been honored with other positions of trust within the gift of the people Within a few years he retired from active farming and located at Plum ville where he Is at present exten sively engaged in the lumber busi ness Although in his 67th year he is still counted one of the active and progressive men of the county and both he and his wife who is 73 years of age are blessed with excel lent health Their children include three sons and three daughters as follows Ex County Treasurer Harrison Seanor of town Sherman Counties ia the State Showed Greater Per Cent of of Counties for Past 30 Years There was good news for Indiana county people In the census figures made public at Washington on Thurs day They show that we now have a population of an increase of during the past tett years the previous census giving us but The remarkable growth entitles In diana county to two members Inr the state legislature and pushes us from to place in the state in point of population But two other counties show a greater per cent of Increase than Indiana They are Cambria and Washington The population of the state is as compared with in 1900 and In 1890 The growth in the last 10 years is 996 Pennsylvania maintains her rank as the second state In the union This congressional district com posed of Indiana Jefferson lot on North street a building suitable for the quarters of the fire laddies and Tor housing the fire fighting apparatus and other property of the borough The company has outgrown its pres nt quarters and a new building which would meet the demands of a progressive town of the pro portions of Indiana would prove a good investment for the borough The claims of tho fire company will no doubt be carefully considered by the town council The members of the company are never slow In re to an alarm and it has been demonstrated at every fire that the boys work like a paid department If this high standard of efficiency is to be maintained suitable quarters must be provided The new building would also provide a meeting place for the town council and it would no longer be necessary to pay rent
