complement a runway extension project planned over a threeyear period Architects drawing by Parker Harley A Canon By RANDY WELLS Gazette Staff Writer State Sen Pat Stapleton DIndi ana and the Indiana County Airport Authority have convinced state to include a capital appropriation in the 199394 state budget for runway improvements at the Indiana County Airport It is believed to be the largest single appropriation ever made for enhancements at Jimmy Stewart Field Larry Lockard airport authority project chairman said the funding was the result of a nearly coordinated effort between Staple ton and authority members since last fall But he credited Stapleton with successfully ushering the ap propriation request through the state budget process intact To secure the state money Staple ton sponsored the request then lobbied House and Senate leaders Gov Robert Casey Secretary of the Budget Michael Hershock and Sen Vincent the minority appropriations committee Local man charged in shooting death Robert Samuel Brendlinger of In diana was killed and the wife of the homicide suspect was wounded in a domestic dispute that took place at home on Metz Road White Township according to state police from the Indiana station Police arrested and jailed the suspect Bryan Keith Delaney 32 of 1221 Ben Avon Indiana Trooper Jeffrey Witmer of the Indiana Station of the state police said Brendlinger 40 was killed by one shot in the chest from a 3030 Delaney allegedly broke into the Brendlinger residence around 2 today and confronted Brendlinger and wife Billie Jean the trooper said Delaney fired a shot into Brend lingers chest then fired one shot at Billie Jean Delaney 29 but the bullet just grazed her left knee according to Witmer who said the woman received outpatient treat ment at Indiana Hospital Brendlinger was pronounced dead at in the Indiana Hospital emergency room Indiana County Coroner Thomas Streams said an autopsy was under way this morning to determine the cause of death According to Streams Delaney fled the scene but turned himself in to state police at Delaney was arraigned on single charges of criminal homicide and criminal attempt at homicide and
