the fact that the argest number of animals ever offered at the sale were available to buyers The swine sale was the start of a long afternoon for auc a Mark Click who always donates his service and Diane Baker Froehlich Packing Company of John stown Whittake Associates Tom Riley Grubbs Lumber Company of Hesston Carl Decker Clarence Cramer of Three Springs Riverside Market of Huntingdon David Distler of Huntingdon Jacob I Yoder John Blair Helena Chemical Company of Warriors Mark Juniata Packing Company s Meats of Altoona A total of 81 animals were offered for sale a sharp jump from the 57 that were available last year when sale records were shattered The Shaw Packing Com pany of Newry in Blair County repeated as the buyer of the champion a 240 pound winner owned by Ronald Briar of McVeytown RDI The champion brought per pound which was 20 cents ahead of the 1982 figure of but still less than the record of per pound established in 1981 Contd on Page 6 Lamb Records Smashed All records fell by the wayside yesterday during the highly successful 4 H and FFA Market Lamb Sale at the Huntingdon County Fair Leading the way was the Juniata Packing Company who paid record for the 100 pound grand champion owned by Bryan Weight of Tyrone RD 4 The previous record at the sale was paid for the grand champion in 1981 The Union National Bank and Trust Company gave the sale further impetus by paying per pound for the reserve grand 100 pound animal owned by Lee Hayes of Tyrone RD 1 Sale Treasurer Byron Ginther announced at the end of the sale of the 38 animals that with the grand champion included lambs weighing 3590 pounds were sold and brought for an average of Without the grand champion included the totals were 3490 pounds for and an average of 87 cents Previous records at Storm Is Now Issue In Strike WASHINGTON UPI Negotiators trying to end the 14dayold nationwide telephone strike have failed to resolve major differences and now have a new dispute Hurricane Alicia Nevertheless a union spokesman says talks will continue on a master contract for 675000 Bell System workers though no formal bargaining was scheduled today American Telephone Telegraph Co executives and representatives of the Com Workers of America the largest of the three striking unions met separately Friday in small groups and conferred by telephone The meetings show the disagreements are still sub stantial CWA spokesman Duayne Trecker said There is still a long way to go Trecker accused South western Bell of taking ad vantage of the Hurricane Alicia situation by casting the union in a continued in the following round as Ron Ruble of Mc Donalds in Huntingdon paid for the reserve grand champion owned by Erika Morgan of Orbisonia RD 1 purchased by the Union National Bank were resold
