Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon find daily changes as the big renovation and improvement program continues This week the old main entrance to the hospital was removed and all persons entering the hospital must use this temporary entrance Hospital officials have placed directional signs for the convenience of visitors All visitors are requested to use this temporary entrance Dis charged patients however are permitted to use the exit to the rear of the hospital Serves 27 Sewage Officer Begins Monday By Jurist Four cases were handled by Judge Morris M Terrizzi yes at a session of Hunting dori county Court The jurist sentenced a young woman who had pleaded guilty to two charges back in September he heard a guilty plea made a support order and directed the r a scheduled habeas 350 Crews from the Pennsylvania Transportation in Huntingdon County were making every effort today to reopen a Route 350 However a spokesman for the department said the prospects were not promising for getting the roadway back in service to day He indicated that work men would be back on the job tomorrow morning if the work was not finished today The heavily traveled high way has been closed since early Tuesday morning when a massive rockslide lanes of traffic Workmen quickly open ed one lane but area was closed after workmen deci ded that the original slide had created dangerous conditions and additional slides could be ted Huntingdon Countys sewage enforcement officer Lewis J Rinker of Mount Union will begin Monday to serve home builders in the 27 townships and boroughs to the County Sani ary Administrative Committee Rinker who was the position at the February meeting qf the committee has been train ing since to be able to handle the of his work as well as make the in of septic sys tems conduct the percolation tests and be able to serve as an adviser on building lot sizes and suitable soil characteristics for sewage systems In essence Rinkers job is to see that Act state has reminded motorists that the Motor License Division of the Motor Vehicle Bureau here will be open from 8 am to 4 pm Saturday for issuance ol 1971 license plates The same hours will also be in dealers Funding Is Cut Off By House WASHINGTON UP future of an American faster airliner is in the hands of a skeptical Senate which is facing mounting pressure from the airline industry the White House and organized labor to keep the project alive The House voted 215 to 204 Thursday not to spend any more government money to develop two prototypes of the supersonic transport plane after March 30 when current financ ing ends But opponents of the project tempered their over the unexpected house action with cautions that the SST still is far from dead A White House aide said President Nixon was naturally disappointed at the House action killing a million appropriation to continue the project until June 30 But the aide said The President is hopeful that the Senate will restore the funds 5000 people of this central Kansas farming town are convinced the Atomic Energy Commis sion officials are good churchgoing folks who have been completely honest with them And if the AEC wants to dump its solid radioactive waste in a nearby abandoned salt mine they see nothing wrong with that But Gov Robert B Docking Sen James B RKan and other Kansas politicians are skeptical While they have directly opposed the AEC project they have asked for safety tests before Congress allocates any funds A Lyons junk dealer also is skeptical Paul McKinnis the AEC just hasnt run enough ests So dont cry on riy shoulder starts in around here after they bury all that deadly pollution Permanent Disposal Planned The AEC plans to bury the waste in narrow steel cannis ters beneath 1000 acres of Lyons By 1976 the mine would contain 88 cannisters By the year 2000 it would contain 199261 cannisters surrounded by salt Walter Pile manager of ite Lyons Chamber of Commerce thinks his town is to cooperate with the AEC bedded salt underlying Lyons is about 300 feet tluck and isat a depth 1000 feet which will permit construction of areas Pile said The Lyons salt bed is part of a massive formation in a densely populated area extend ing about 10000 square miles It is in a very stable seismic area Its formation has existed relatively undisturbed for hun dreds of millions of years Besides we feel like
