for Humboldt Community Board of Education by the two members whose terms expire at that Ed who is currently serving as board and incumbent Richard have checked out their nomination pa pers it was reported Concerning the fall House File HF 745 as passed by the Iowa Legislature and signed by Governor Robert Ray the state election law as well as establishing state wide voter The voter registration provisions are not effective until January but the rest of the law took effect July The law now states the county designated as the county commissioner of is to conduct all elections within the county including all school elec A provision has been added to provide that if a special elec tion is to be called by the school or any political sub the commissioner must be consulted before establishing the date of the special HF 745 Section The commissioner may desig nate as a deputy county commis of elections any officer of a political subdivision who is required by law to accept nomi nation papers filed by candidates for office in that political sub division and when so designated that person shall assist the com missioner in administering elec tions conducted by the commis for that The designation of a person as a deputy commissioner of elec tions pursuant to this once shall continue in ef Ed Crist feet until the designation is with drawn by that The effect of that provision is that the county commisioner may appoint the secretary of the Dick school board as a deputy county commissioner to conduct school even if that appointment is the election Continued on
