the struggle for the revolver both were wounded VIOLENT RAIN HITS VALLEY observation has developed the first two points Gettysburg is charged with Failure to analyze its commercial problem and inability to get-together and operate There remains therefore the third of commercial be discussed Having set forth the belief that the present system is all wrong the obligation presents itself to provide corrective measures and make reply Are the Gettysburg battlefields a modern Absolutely they Have not the tactics at Gettysburg been studied at all military schools in this country and Were not the tactics used here the basis of the modern strategies used in the World Is not this recognized f by the military units that come here yearly to see the grounds over which they have fought on tary people will concede that is not a dead issue but some one will have to constantly size that to the layman who very rarely wants to waste time witti anything that is out of date Gettysburg has captured public imagination and need but maintain it even though it requires a new order of to do so NO HOPE FOR CREW OF SUB to the question that naturally arises is the 11 is about this the problem of always remain so The name is just naturally associated with the battle of Gettysburg and that is without a question burg's chief claim to fame It is not here implied that thing else is excluded for such is not the case Manufactured educational institutions orchard and agricultural products all have their particular niche but they are in an almost separate classification as the historic connection far ex- all these Historic importance predominates so much that its in connection with the name Gettysburg lends prestige to all other local interests That being true it seems sive that the future depends on maintaining and increasing the toric importance of Gettysburg in the minds of the Therefore whatever future progress is gested must be based on the field as the factor of greatest inter- est and which by its own appeal has the happy feature of holding forth the greatest and the quickest possibilities of large returns Further battlefield details are hardly necessary to sustain one thing to interest the generation that witnessed the Civil war struggle and are Gettysburg's biggest assets and once forget that fact and do not act in accordance with that fact the end is m sight To briefly venture into other local fields of activity is not only sible but important There are in- here that have powerful possibilities The furniture factories have sponsored furniture shows within the past two years that have met with success There is excellent possibility of development in these exhibits which would react in the output of these factories with a fine reaction toward continued operation At least the exhibits were new ideas that proved and show that something that was never done before could be done GETTYSBURG college's nial celebration was one of the biggest events the community has ever experienced In the alumni and former student ranks there are eral thousand Gettysburg ties that had almost been forgotten The community can to its tage co-operate with the college in bringing more of them back for the various events The athletic con- tests here also hold most excellent possibilities In the case of the factories and the college along with the academy and seminary there is little that can be directly done but these institutions merit the good will of the community and certainly more of an enthusiastic approval than they have received Cherbourg France
