1928 who persuaded Roosevelt to stand for the New York governorship four years ago While Smith lost the state to Hoover in the presidential contest Roosevelt won handsomely for the state chair and lifted his majority en re-election two years later Aged 50 he comes from a dis- line That tempestuous republican president Teddy Roosevelt was his fifth when a Harvard student early in the century F as some in- call the nominee used to visit with T R at the White House His political career opened in the New York legislature and carried him to the vice presidential nation in 1920 He was assistant of dependent children under 16 years of age will hereafter receive but per month Some of these mothers nave as many as six and seven dependent children A reduction in the monthly award to mothers who received per month was also agreed upon Other deductions will be graded ingly Reports that the trustees of the financial aid through the Talbot fund to Adams county were dis- counted by Attorney Robert E Wible who distributes the money Wible declared that the money could not be used for that purpose The Times was informed that the trustees would apply or had made application for some Square What are probably the last of the Adams county strawberries found a ready sale at curb market this morning on center square Dale Knouse had a supply of very fine berries which brought 15 cents a box while one or two other stands had smaller berries that sold for 10 cents a box There were all varieties of ries in black cherries and sold at three and four boxes for a i quarter or 10 cents for a I single box Most every stand had black berries at 10 and 15 cents a box the latter bunging 25 cents for two The price depended upon the grade Most of them were small Two of the early variety of Ad-
