conference in Dallas with Republican lieutenant gover nor candidate Rob Mosbacher This campaign has been tough and difficult and Rich ards told reporters at the rally adding that Williams is using in appropriate remarks and priate With the latest polls showing Richards and Williams in a dead heat Richards said the momen tum had turned to her because of Williams repeated public gaffes They have finally had to let him out in she said at the Hispanic rally When people got a good look they were not happy with what they Richards referred to Williams refusal to shake hands at a recent campaign appearance and said that ever since the publi incident Williams staff has kept him under wraps in little towns outside of small At news confer ence the candidate said he has been forced to respond to San Antonio mayor Henry Cisneros appearing with Richards said Hispanics in partic ular were offended by Williams refusal to shake Richards hand calling it the nuclear bomb of the Republicans campaign In the Hispanic community men must respect he said His action talks of a crudity that upset Hispanics Earlier Richards told a meet ing of the Baptist Ministers Asso of Houston and Vicinity Baptist
