That the ernor Is the Man MATTHEWS THE SLOGAN Which Arouse the Silve Men to Action HELD BY STATE PRIDE Indiana Free Silver League Opens Up Headquarters In Chicago June silver and Matthews will be the slogan of the Indiana democratic clans at the cago national convention and the Matthews end of the cry will be echoed by many republican friends of the governor from this city who will g to Chicago to lend him the aid of thei enthusiasm Part of this among republicans is due to state pride part lo personal friendship Some of the republicans show n interest in the the Chicago than of the St Louis convention They do not say they will vote for the nc nee of the democracy Republicans for Matthews They simply say they are interested and that it is worth while to take a hand in a pretty fight a clever man may be profiled The republicans who are talking of Chicago possibilities di- vest themselves of party far enough to admit that occasionally the other includes a good fellow That is what they say of the present situation Governor Matthews has re- his friendships in both parties despite the free-silver and other heresies attributed to him Think Him a Growing llan Pour years from said one re- publican gold man who was analyzing the governor's character Matthews would not make the mistake he is now making The silver craze will then have passed the governor who after all is a young man will have learned the lesson the older wise men in his party learned from the fiat money dis- cussion You will find him a sound money man if he survives the present political upheaval But what are you going to do with him now before these four years of said another frold man who stood by Tom Taggart's Opinion See him through at Chicago how He will grow and by the he studies the money question ii will he to trust to him I N Walker of the Grand Army is going to Chicago not as commander nor as u republican but as a personal friend of the governor SevenO members of the Columbia club republican All Arc for Matthews There was no doubt of his earnest ness when he made this Then no longer any doubt in the matter It makes no difference if the delegates chosen from tins district are free silver men gold men or other kind ol money men they will support Matthews from start to finish Will he get a solid delegation from There is no doubt of it Indiana will go to Chicago solid for Claude Matthews to the lust ditch The ple who are going to Chicago will go there to nominate Matthews if they and when they leave the battlefield hev will have to be carried off There will be no running on the part of the Indiana delegates Opens Headquarters The Free-silver league of Indiana has state headquarters at the Grand lotel and Chairman will start hings at once There is talk of a dark governor but no
