attempting to determine if there is a link between the weekend slaying of a yound man and the abduction of his wife a similar abduction in Winter Haven and a wave of terrorist robberies in the Orlando area I'm real disturbed his wave of terrorism Volusia County Sheriff Ed Duff said Sunday By virtue of the modus operandi of these people we think there's a damn good possibility at least two of these cases are lied together In the latest incident Friday night Henry Kersey 21 Deland was shot and killed by two masked men whom he prised inside his home wife was bound and driven to a St Johns river bridge where she was thrown in the water She was rescued by a Casselberry Fla couple who were fishing under the bridge In a similar incident last Oct 15 a lone gunman broke into the Winter Haven home of Mr and Mrs Kenneth 0 Stevenson bound and forced Stevenson into the trunk of the family car and blindfolded Mrs Stevenson The couple and their two sons were driven about for a while then the bandit returned the car and the children lo their home and in another vehicle drove Mrs Stevenson to the Howard Frankland bridge over Tampa Bay where he hurled her into the water She clung to a bridge piling for nine hours before being rescued by men Over the past two months there have also been reports of several robberies in which the bandits have terrorized home dwellers sometimes beating raping or otherwise torturing them Duff said sheriffs in borough Polk Orange Semi- nole and Volusia Counties were studying the possibility of links between the various incidents He said he was also investigating unsubstantiated rumors that Kersey was in- in Ku Klux Klan activity and may have been slain by blacks involved in a vendetta by United Press International Today is Monday Dec 8 the day
