Evening Sun Photos by James Robinson York St gets OK Penn Township takes first step toward traffic light at Blooming Grove Road By ASHLEY ADAMS Evening In conjunction with pending ment plans the Penn Township Public Safety Committee on Monday recommended adopting a resolution to install a traffic signal at the inter section of York Street and Grove Road And the resolution will more than likely pass since all township commissioners are members of the committee The CHR Corp is proposing to build a Rut ters convenience store with sas pumps and a car wash at lots and 1021 York St in an area zoned Business The properties are near the York Grove Road intersection A traffic study indicated a traffic signal is warranted at the intersection In addition to the signal Rutters would add a left and right turn lane northbound on Bloom ing Grove and a right turn lane east on York Street The proposed Rutters won approval during a zoning meeting in August despite protests from neighbors The convenience store and car wash are allowed in the zoned area but by spe cial exception Residents opposed to the new business said it would push more traffic onto Marietta Avenue and they were concerned with the noise Although the Rutters got zoning approval the CHR Corp has only submitted a sketch plan to the Penn Township Planning Commission Township Manager Jeff Garvick said ing a permit from the nia Department of Transportation could take a while so he was unable to specify as to when construction would begin on the intersection Ashley Adams at INDEX Business Stocks Deaths Lottery
