endeavor to see them in their homes before I leave the State Yours W J F HUTCHISON June 6 Leaving Newton the evening of the 4th inst I came to this point and found the town almost submerged in water The streets a few days ago were navigable for small boats and riders trians staid at home The lower stories of many of the houses were dated The of the Reno Hotel had two feet of water on the the floor The main street flowed like a river for its entire length This town has had only six years of existence and yet it contains in- habitants and a number of very fine business houses some of them having done from worth of trade during the last There are two church ings Methodist and Presbyterian but there are three other organizations that will soon erect houses of worship There are two large flouring mills fine public school building court house the county seat of Reno county There are good unimproved lauds lying within six to twenty miles of town for sale ten dollars per acre some ed at
