LOCAL BIKINI CONTEST AT There have been many con tests for ami about almost everything The Sunday contest took the desert by storm It was a bikini contest with food and entertainment as part of the big afternoon on the deserts finest ranch Ann Durst and Lynda Peter son were contestants from Des ert Hot Springs They may not have won this event but for the record they were the cen ter of Carol Soroko from Long Beach won first with a motion picture contract with Four Crown Film Productions for a part in the ing picture Carol is IS years of age and is a secretary This is a sec ond contest in which she has been first prize winner She is a graduate of El Monte high school a vocalist likes to swim and enjoys all sports She is five and a half feet in height and weighs 115 pounds has blue eyes Spot The state of California and the Indio Superior Court this week filed a suit to nullify the annexation of five parcels of land in north Coachella Valley by the Coachella Valley County Water District Al Scharf president the North Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce pointed out this week North Palm Springs County Water District plans to follow the same legal procedure ac cording to information given to Scharf This matter must he settled and there is one logical way to have it done In the he said THE annexed land in this area in November 1061 The states complaint was filed on behalf of the Desert Hot Springs County Water District The claim is made that juris diction over the five parcels is held by It was also pointed out here that the parcels of land con cerned are all located in a two block area of potential big sub divisions near and the Palms Road Both Desert Hot Springs and North Springs are vitally concerned because both areas covered to the extent of 800 acres
