They have been attending school in Hinsdale Illinois for the past ten weeks The Fourth grade of the Primary School will provide the entertainment feature for the April meeting of the A The children in Miss Morgan's room have just completed their unit on The They visited the postoffice and Miss Edna Shipman told them many interesting things They later constructed their own postoffice where they mailed letters and packages bought stamps and received their mail Tho boys and girls in Mrs Brooks room have completed their building of a toy train and a toy store They are now making their arithmetic classes very interesting by using them They ride in the train and purchase ies from the store The boys in Miss Chaffinch's room have constructed chairs from orange crates The girls are helping with the painting and decorating of them A table to be used as a typewriting table is under construction at present Many new books have been added to our library Books to supplement our texts in History and Science are in the collection as well as poetry story and picture books for younger children The pupils in the Third and Fourth grades are receiving each week a current events paper known as My Weekly Reader After the papers have been road in each copy is kept on file and the remaining copies are distributed among the children Twenty-three children are receiving free lunches in our cafeteria to their box lunches Money has been donated by the Health tee Eastern Star Ladies Club and Cafeteria fund Miss and Dr Waters visited our school recently and gave the Schick test to a FEDERAL GAS Motorists of Maryland have paid a total of since the gasoline tax first was levied in this state in 1922 to finance highways Governor Nice was informed recently by Joseph P Lanigan Secretary of the Maryland Petroleum Industries Committee Mr Lanigan pointed out that this is the 18th birthday of the gasoline tax which first was levied by Oregon on February 25 1919 Motorists of Maryland have 1922 contributed more than 944 to gasoline tax collections which on a national basis have reached a total of more than since February 25 Mr Lanigan said Included b their share of the total cost of the duplicating gasoline tax levied by tho federal government since 1932 State gasoline tax payments at Maryland motorists totalled in 1935 Total payment from 1922 through 1935 amounted to 556 Payments for the first 9 months of 1936 amounted to The state gasoline tax first was levied in Maryland as in Oregon for the specific purpose of financing ways It has increased in this state from the original rate of Ic per gallon to the present rate of to which must be added the duplicating federal tax of Ic On this day the 18th anniversary of state gasoline taxes first levied by Oregon
