MARCH 8 1921 SINGLE COPY 5 CENTS THREE Wage Scale of all Workers is Cut Twelve and One Half Percent TAKES EFFECT MARCH 14 Chicago decreases of approximately twelve and one half percent affecting more than of the packing industry in this country were announced today reductions arc effective March 14 There will bo a revision of working hours time and a half for over time being paid only after ten hours of bor in any one day or after 54 hours In any one Double time will bo paid for Sundays and holidays Tho new wage scalo reduces the wage rate of all hourly paid employes eight cents per hour The piecework rate is reduced twelve and one half At the present rate paid borers arc paid 53 cents an hour Un- der tho new schedule this will be cut to 40 cents The higher paid will be reduced in proportion the minimum wage guaranteeing 40 hours pay per week being continued It was announced the packers arc out plans to establish closer between workers and the management with the to giving
