Mrs Logan Castle MIAMI Daughter to Mr and Mrs Larry Collins Fairborn Son to Mr and Mrs John Xenia FAyETTE Ray Rumer Route 1 medical IT HAPPENED to my good friend and worker Dee Fisher and it never would have ex- cept she's been on this diet kick for weeks She thinks she's fat but tually she's a mere slip a girl and if she doesn't stop slimming down she'll have to stand sideways a shadow Anyway Mrs F has been very noble and self sacrificing preparing all sorts of dull healthy dishes guaranteed to make appetite and pounds disappear One day last week the worm either turned or Dee decided to throw caution to the winds because she made a pie Her excuse was that she really baked it for her son but I know better Nobody goes to the trouble of making a pie unless she plans to eat some of it ACCORDING to Dee it was a labor of love and the finished product was beautiful to behold mounds of creamy chocolate filling topped with meringue and sprinkled with chocolate cooky crumbs Gently she placed it on top of the refrigerator to cool and ahead with dinner preparations Now ordinarily Dee is a very sharp gal But the aroma of this rare treat must have made her giddy Because all cat people know that the whir of the can opener signals chow time to the feline population even if you're only ing a can of Chinese noodles at 3 in the afternoon DEE WASN'T thinking pcor dear The can opener whirred Speckles awakened from his perch on top of the kitchen cabinet and started a swift downward descent via his favorite route the re- lie and the pie made contact the metal pan slid smoothly across the shiny slick porcelain to the edge and over The cat trying desperately to keep from lowing was caught in midair by he outraged cook and given an unceremonious pitch the cook's teenage son took one look and disappeared into the living room where ho could laugh and roar around at this comedy of errors without being belted And the Oh it went everywhere on the walls up the chair legs over the counter tops across the floor IT COULDN'T have been very pood our heroine mourned It was so loose and covered so much territory the best kind Luv soft and creamy and fattening But I guess she's lost her taste for chocolate pie Because she's back making cheese cake out cheese and fudge without sugar and all those great dishes Girl talk Some quotable quotes from women during the week I'm not certain I have the intense self-drive you have to have to be a success in the en- world I think it's more important to be able to sleep at night Terry Meeuwsen 23 Miss America My only vices are
