know they are ex- tremely cooperative and always willing to help We discussed your problem with Ted Martin of the service department who was very sympathetic and promised to check it out The check revealed the pole was not Edison's but was a private property pole and they had no responsibility for removing it However said Mr Martin through the good offices of William 1st of Edison's public relations department the utility company will send a crew this week to remove the pole Willie is most impressed and would like to thank Mr Martin Mr and Commonwealth Edison for the consideration shown Dedicated It was not at all difficult to tell that a lot of work had been done hi the auditorium of the Austin Town Hall when it was rededicated Friday night Not only was the work visible new and attractive ment of the walls new lighting fresh audible as well The marked change in the acoustics of the hall is vastly more dramatic than what can be seen Before the renovation pre- a play or a concert in the halt was little different than trying to do it in an empy gymnasium or in the Town Hall's own swimming pool V p of little sound drowned put everything including the original sound it- self Microphones and fiers only made things worse Enjoying music or a play under thos conditions was next to im- possible Friday night dignitaries spoke into a microphone seemed to be mini- mal yet they were heard throughout the hall clearly Re- echoes were gone Musical groups on the stage and in front of it needed no electronic boosters although did the micro- phone Every note was heard For one who has heard at- tempts to play music in the Town Hall before the change is hard to believe Only when the doors to the lobby are open does one hear the noise that was the feature of the hall Even the doors were remodeled so that when they are closed the noise from the lobby is effectively shut out of the auditorium v The remodelling done at a cost of mostly in the auditorium was done largely through the efforts of Sen mas McGloon who made the acceptance speech during the ceremonies Other dignitaries who spoke were Commissioner William F McFetridge president of the Park District who
