Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock Although the weather was very Incle ment the attendance was large prac all the business men In Cen tralia being present Many of the stores were closed during the es The services at the residence were conducted by Rev H W Thompson The house was crowded with friends of the bereaved family besides a large number standing outside ong those present were the members of the Benevolent and Protective Or- der of Elks and the Knights of las both orders of which Mr Birge was a member joining the former about eighteen years ago and file ter about twenty years ago Many lumbermen from Centralia and the Pacific Northwest were also present After the services the friends marched through the house and took their last look a their beloved for- mer business associate
