with criticism of the man who had obtained free stuff so far in excess of his needs The transient unabashed You are just you cant get some of it he opined It was my to re at Christmas time from a kind relative three nice suits of shorts and the kind I like with beautiful in the shorts There only one flaw were a couple inches too fulsome for my slender waistline Resourceful iinan that J am I soon on back page Auto Piaffes Should Be Bought Now Failure of Arizona motor Vehicle operators to secure 1940license plates as soon as possible may re salt in unpleasant complications it was pointed out today by H Mc Ahren superintendent of the motor vehicle division of the highway department who urges all motorists to secure 1940 registra tion for their cars at once In previous years motor vehicle owners have been permitted to purchase license plates and pay per sonal property and taxes during December and grant ed a period of grace dur ing January j Because of the manner in which Uie new motor vehicle law of 1939 passed by the last legislature was written county assessors refused to issue license plates and tax payments juring ithe final Receipts Of Post Office At New High Receipts at the Casa Grande post office continued in 1939 ithe steady climb that has been uninterrupted over a period of several years ac cording to Mrs N Bess Prather postmaster A gain of a little more than seven per cent over 1938 was recorded when the books for 1939 were closed This is about average recent years with one or two years showing as much as a 15 per cent increase The greatest increase in any de was in the purchase of savings bonds the total for tie year being as compared with for increase of 600 per cent Machine cancellations for i the year were but there were many pieces mailed by hand on opera tor It calls attention once again to a career of unusual service to com munity as well as employer which has brought recognition to Casa Grandes depot agent as one of its most distinguished froni whose endeavors in public service the community and surrounding area will receive benefits long after he is gone from the scene Mr Brown came to Casa Grande as station master in 1908 after he had worked at every station be tween El Paso and Yuma and had decided this was the town with the promise of development and growth He was one of the perhaps the first to conceive the possibili ties of Cross Drive Doubles Members In Local District The Red Cross membership in Casa Grande this year is more than double that of a year ago accord ing to E G Lavers chairman The drive recently completed under di rection of Mrs George Branscomb enrolled 130 County and state Red Cross officials have ex pressed themselves as highly pleased with results j To the casual observer this is only slightly more than those of former years j but the difference lies ih the fact that this year the communities of Sacaton and Etoy were not included in the Can Grande enrollment The 130 mem bers are all of this
