The force was just too much for these sandfilled cages and the water breached them early on Thursday morning, April 15 th , causing the closure of No. 5 Highway between Glenboro and Carberry. It is not known at this time when the highway will re- open and people that work in Carberry and Neepawa are forced to drive via No. 34 Highway at Holland or by Wawanesa and Shilo. PHOTO SUBMITTED Sandbaggers were busy in the Village of Wawanesa last week along the Souris River. High water threatened their community and twenty- one Wawanesa Personal Care Home residents were transferred to other facilities in the region as a safety precaution measure. School was also cancelled until the river reaches safe levels. GAZETTE PHOTO/ ED TORZ ;
