   Baldur Gazette (Newspaper) - October 28, 1986, Baldur, Manitoba                                THE 1986 CANADA 87 Elections draw excellent voter turnout The local municipal elections saw an excellent turnout of voters as they cast ballots for the positions of Town Council and Councillors in Wards 3 and For Town Council were five candidates running for three positions and approximately 70 of eligible voters turned out to elect Hunter Lavona Gosselin and Mark Unsuccessful in their bid were incumbents Betty Maxwell and John Voting was as follows votes 118 votes 114 votes votes In Ward Germain Levreault with 195 votes defeated Joe Koldyk with 74 In ward Maurice Sveinsson with 31 votes defeated Donald Van Damme with 24 Voter turnout for the rural seats was just over Other members of Rural Council are Reeve John Councillor Ward Roger Lebeau Ward Jack Bolack Ward Harry Parsonage and Ward James Community Bingo donates Barons r organize for 198687 season The annual meeting of the Baldur Barons Ciub was held on the 24th of October at 8 at the rink with 15 enthusiastic persons The following officers were elected Frank Roeges Vice President Ramage Salin Beaufoy Myrna DeKezel Ted Dearsley Art Friesen Craig Ramage will help Art as assistant coach and Jeff Parsonage will be the stick The Fund Raising Committee will consist of Charlie Leo DeKezel and Darcy Season tickets will once again be offered for sale with both Adult and Student passes A special Student Night will be held December 12th with free admission to all students from Baldur and These passes will also give those attending chances on free prize Watch for more on The Barons commenced practices last Saturday at Wawanesa using free ice tune thanks to Greg Wanless of Wawanesa Transfer and are looking forward to a very exciting Baldur Community Bingo Club held its semiannual meeting on October The executive was pleased to receive letters of request for funding from so many of our community All the letters were reviewed and the following donations were unanimously agreed upon Baldur Arena crystoplex to cover boards around ice Order of Forestors ramp fund Baldur Junior Rifle Club rifle purchases Baldur Arts Association piano fund of Argyle Public Library library purchases Baldur Community Santa Day annual Christmas party Baldur 4K Club general club Baldur Community Choir choir expenses Baldur School Yearbook yearbook publishing expenses Baldur Elementary School music and drama artist The members of the executive are interested in upgrading the lower level of the Baldur Memorial so that it may be used to its fullest extent as chibrooms for various A sum of has been donated to a Baldur Clubroom which initially will be used to upgrade storage cupboards and perhaps some Earlier in the we were pleased to be able to assist the following by donating to their organizations Baldur Merchants Association Provincial Ball Team I Requests were also received from the Baldur Tennis Club and Baldur Merchants These groups have plans for spring and their requests will be honoured at that The executive would like to extend a sincere thankyou to all the faithful bingo players and workers who make these donations We hope that Your Community Bingo has helped an organization that you or a member of your family belong Sharon Carstairs here Thursday night Manitoba Liberal Leader Sharon Carstairs will be in Baldur on October 30th at the Baldur Foresters Hall at Her talk will key on The Affairs of Manitoba discussed from a New Included in the evening will be a Constituency Meeting and election of officers of the 1987 Turtle Mountain Liberal Association for Ice ready Workers complet ed the job of painting the curling ice on Sunday and curling is now CS CJ ao a CQ The Weather October 20 to 27 25F Nil Death Funeral services were held today October 28 in Baldur United Church for Jack Everett who passed away October 24 at Baldur Personal Care Home at the age of Interment will follow at the Baldur
