Baldur Gazette (Newspaper) - July 6, 1983, Baldur, Manitoba Legislative Library 200 Vaughan R3COP8 84 26 Manitoba July 1983 Official Visit Held At Pelican Lake Pelican Lake Chapter 62 Order of the Eastern was honored Thursday June to welcome the Worthy Grand Matron Sharon Cook and Worthy Grand Patron Scotty Gillespie as well as many officers of the Grand Chapter of Manitoba Order of the Eastern The official visit began with a potluck supper in the lower hall of the Masonic Crocheted favours made by Martha Myers delighted the visitors as did talkie decorations provided by Iris The chapter meeting followed with the Worthy Matron presiding in the Chapter Worthy Matron Evelyn Jones welcomed Sister Sharon and Brother An especially warm welcome was given to Brother Scotty by Worthy Patron Morley McKay who initiated Brother Scotty into the order at Pelican Lake Chapter in The Worthy Patron remarked on the honor brought to his home chapter by the election of Brother Scotty to the Grand Chapter of Other officials were introduced by Doreen Those in attendance were Past Grand Matrons Jeanette Moss and Agnes Neilson Past Grand Patrons Henry Robert Forrest and John Elected and appointed Grand Officers in attendance were Jean Marian Janet Dorothy Jean Cathie Doreen Marion Jenkyns and Margaret Many visitors from other chapters were also Visitors came from Carman and continued on page 4 Notice Due to photo mixup Elementary Awards Report next The Weather June 27 to July 4 High 75F Low 51F Precipitation mm inches We had rain on five of the last seven Glenora School Awards Glenora School held its annual picnic and awards on June Presenting the Booster awards was Jackie Booster She presented the following Room One Most Conscientious Button Most Desrochers Highest Average 3 Martens Duane Martens Room Two Most Improvement Rowley Lussier Highest Average 5 Jeannie Martens Highest Average 7 Rob Bolack The Spelling Awards for most lessons correct went to Jennifer Major in Room and Lexine Martens in Room The Clinton Kynoch Memorial Award for General Proficiency went to Brenda Martens in Room and to Rob Bolack in Room Shown here is a Centennial Cake made by Alice VanDamme of Cypress The cake shows the Alphonse Roman Catholic This cake was raffled off at the Centennial Celebration held at Alphonse on July 3rd and Annie Martens of Baidur was the lucky
