Chairman and Secretary Collins of the demo cratic committee They have issued the following statement As end of this campaign we desire to say to our friends that all indications point to an overwhelming victory for de Saturday We have a com plete organization in more than two hundred counties in the state and have had reliable reports from these counties upon which we base this statement The readiness with which democrats have responded to our call shows beyond question that the efforts of the opposition to dis rupt the party have met with gen eral disfavor throughout the state If our El Paso counties which are doubtful but where the Bailey machine is appar ently in control Majority 4 to 1 I have just completed a poll by lat ter of the counties bf tho state on en of Wilson and have re responses from 157 out of counties Of the 157 counties report ing 132 correspondents reported with reasonable assurance that the coun ties would go for an Wilson and Hobby and against Bailey These 132 give the endorse ment of Wilson 847 convention votes Twentyfive counties indicated the ac tion to be taken by tho county con is doubtful or will instruct favorable to Bailey These counties have a total of 209 convention votes The total number of votes in the state convention is 1400 The poll was taken among editors and newspaper correspondents and is the same list from which the poll was taken in tho cam in 1918 campaign for U S senator in 1916 From the poll taken in 1918 the figures forecast the election of Hobby over Ferguson by a majority of 250000 two weeks before the election In 191 G
