as a mem ber of the faculty of the Bel ton High They were not akin but each was an athlete as well as a scholar and and they jointly hold the distinction of being the Fathers of Football at Belton High At this early dale there was not a sufficient number of big boys in the entire high school who were permitted by their parents to play but this did not deter the In the early days they reached down into the seven th grade and recruited a large athlete by the name of Bruce Fra out of whom they made an excellent And they them selves filled with playing fullback and Louis quarter While it was an excellent they had no competition be cause in that day there was no football played in Texas by high schools any place south of Fort Worth and there were of course no football conferences for high schools of the State of Although they had a smooth run ning team on the practice field they were without competition until the Belton Boosters were organized by a and energetic group of young male
