Wiggly Hit During Rush Period By SIEVE EAMES Staff A UNIVERSITY Avenue grocery store lost be tween 2 and 3 Thursday when someone en tered the store and rifled two cash drawers in the office while the assistant manager was gone for lunch Duke Crawford assistant manager ot the Wiggly store at 106 N University said apparently the thieves were familiar with the store be cause only locked drawers con the cash were pried open Two Drawers Rifled Other cabinets and drawers in the small partially enclosed office were untouched Police theorized someone en tered the store either through the front doors of the store or through an open loading door at the rear entered the unlocked room and rifled both drawers An employe of the store dis covered the theft just before 3 p m when he found both draw ers open and change scattered across the floor in isos Crawford said missing were two bundles of bills worth a bundle of bills worth and assorted change and bills During the time period when the money was taken store employes were swamped by customers Crawford said and apparently the noise of shop pers and cash registers covered sounds made by the intruders Checkout stands at the busi ness were less
