1874 ALTOONA PA WEDNESDAY EVENING JUNE 2 1915 SIXTEEN COLUMNS Edward Calderwood Aged 32 Almost Instantly Killed In Company's Steel Car Plant This Morning ACCIDENT NOT WITNESSED BY HIS Supposition Is That He Was Caught Between Arm and Carriage of to Hold Inquest Edward Calderwood aged at 224 Second avenue was almost instantly killed at- 7.00 o'clock this morning whim he was caught and crushed by a big steel spacing table in the steel ear plant of the Fourth street shops He was caught by the machine and the upper part of his body crushed resulting several minutes after tlie accident occurred who is employed as a machine hand was this morning acting as helper on the machine which lays off steel plates and punches holes in- a the name of Hoover had stepped for a few minutes and told to stop the machine ran far enough It requires one and three-quarters minutes for tlie machine to run its course and although there were no eye witnesses to the il is believed that the unfortunate shopman stooped down to adjust control when lie was caught between the carriage arid the arm of the punch The length of the table itself is about fifty feet Chest -Is Badly and upper part of his body badly crushed
