killed a 3yearold boy Joshua Ray Patterson appar ently died while playing with a disposable lighter fire fighters said And a counselor warns keeping small children from playing with fire is often eas ier said than done Talking with children about the dangers and trying to keep the items out of reach could be the most effective tools but they are not foolproof Parents best efforts to keep the ing charges for allegedly running down boys riding a bike James M Krawisz was charged Wednesday in the accident that left a 15yearold boy with a broken back and broken knee and a 16year old boy with a fractured arm But the mother of one of the victims said she is angry that police waited two days before pressing charges I feel let down by the police I think they are being lazy and I feel we were Service Inc truck that pulled out in front of another vehicle at New Poag and Wanda roads Wednesday hangs his head in grief SOUTH ROXANA Paramedics battled time and 100degree heat Wednesday to save three people pinned in a car at Wanda and New Poag roads It was a race against the clock to keep the injured people out of shock and fly them to a said nurse Julie Childers who landed in an ARCH helicopter at the crash scene The drama unfolded after a car driven by Russell E King 21 of Edwardsville slammed into the side of a truck that appar ently rolled through a stop sign on Wanda Road the way at least for a day After a dozen straight days of temperatures topping 90 degrees a cool front fueled by thunderstorms may be struggling south toward the River Bend Its not real strong but it may be enough to trigger some storms and a little meteorologist Chris Albers of the National Weath er Service said Forecasters are predicting a 60 percent chance of show ers and thunderstorms early
