Leaking Into Sewer A cherry bomb was thrown in- to a sewer Thursday night ing gasoline fumes in the sewer and shaking houses in a block area on North Clinton Street and A Avenue East The manhole cover had been removed and was resting on above the manhole It was tossed into the air and ers were blown off basement drains in several homes Six manhole covers had been removed to ventilate the sewers in the area and to clear the gasoline fumes Mayor H Eugene Burnside said this morning that the individuals in the vehicle involved were juveniles and a report on the boy loosing the cherry bomb has been given to the probation officer for investigation and report to the juvenile court Burnside said that from the Phillips 66 bulk station on North Third Street and ton Avenue East was leaking into an abandoned sewer and into the city sewer system He said that Paul Hiatt who the bulk station has emptied the four tanks and that all arc being replaced The tanks were tied by Saturday night and new
