Markets of the World A citizen of Abilene lias just re turned a visit to Post City Texas and when seen by a re porter for this paper and question ed concerning the resources of that city had the following to say Post Texas formerly Post City is i town of about twelve hundred in situated on the niau Cutoff of the Santa Fe railway It is the county seat of Garza County mid is thu central supplying point for i larso farming and ranching retail trade territory Among its retail business pursuits are numbered dry Kouds and clothing houses grocery stores hardware stores etc a first class steam laundry cotton gin etc Ninety per cent of its citizenship arc dependent upon the the city C Post of for their living Post City wa founded by C W Post about fiv years ago It is situated about fiv miles from lie foot of the Cap Roc on the West on an almost level roll ins prairie The site of Post City included in land purchased by Mr Iust from the Llano Cattle Company ami oilier private individuals abou KIX years ago his original purchase being acres of in one sol ill body in Lynn and Counties and has recently purchased something like SOooo acres County upon which he is planning to another city along the lines of Pus City Post City is supplied with abun pure well water piped from the IIKI of the Cap five miles dis tunt on the West The water is fur by wells being pumped b thirty windmills into a million gallon storage reservoir thence by gravity into the city The water extend all over the entire city and each house no matter how small is supplied with abundant pure fresh water A fire plug is located on ev ery corner throughout the city and a modern fire department responds to of fire the founding of the city Mr organized and incorporated the Double IT Company a corporation funned for the purpose of develop ment work This company has in charge the interests of Mr Post in that entire country and lias its ces in a modern uptodate office buil ding situated one block Northwest of the Santa Fe depot the building being supplied with sewerage connections steam heat hot and cold water etc The company is governed by four each in charge of a separate department and all com posing what te known as the Board of Managers for that company Mr Post has spent over two mil lion dollars including the original purchase money in development work at this place He is now spending southing over a million and a half dollars in the erection and equipment of a modern uptodate cotton mill and power plant which will furnish steady employment the year round to over five hundred people The cotton mill will bo operated with electricity furnished from the mammoth power plant which will also furnish power for numerous other enterprises now under consideration The main buil ding warehouses bleaching and dye rooms power house etc occupy something like ten acres of ground and nre of unit concrete construc tion fireproof throughout In the main building almost the entire walls are of leaded glass construction hereby giving abundant light in the of u much larger mill to low grade cotton into overalls etc as under the present situation th mill will be unable to handlo any thing but high grade cotton and it it Mr Posts to create a loca market and demand for ALL COT raised in Hint section of th country In fact to insure the pur chase by him of all cotton raised in that immediate trade territory this for every hale of cotton that In bus now on hand he has paid from an eighth to a quarter of a over the market at the time of its pur chase In connection with this col on mill has under construc ion something over fifty new bunga of from three to six each supplied with water sewerage con lection and lighted with electricity hese houses or bungalows are
